JAPANESE ACTIVITIES NEAR HONG-KONG

FROM OUR CORRESPONDENT

HONG-KONG, JAN. 18 The Hong-kong Government have made public the following warning:-

The Japanese authorities have informed his Majesty's Ambassador in Tokyo that they intend to keep the road from the border of the new territories of Hong-kong to Canton under bombardment, and that all vehicles using the road do so at their own risk. British subjects, who for very urgent reasons may require to traverse the area indicated, may inform either the colonial authorities at Hong-kong or the Consul-General in Canton, who will use their discretion whether to inform the Ambassador in Tokyo with a view to bringing specific cases to the notice of the Japanese authorities. The British authorities, however, accept no responsibility in the

matter.
